Transition & Transformation
After 9 years of being an expression of God’s church in Miami, Rhythm’s Guidance Team has discerned that the Spirit is leading Rhythm to transition to closing in the fall of 2019. The Guidance Team has sought out guidance, prayer, and resourcing from the two networks Rhythm belongs to (Ecclesia and V3) as well as other outside leaders who have experience in church transitions. We are deeply thankful for the 9 years of faithful and fruitful ministry God has blessed Rhythm with and the hundreds of people who have been impacted by our community.
On Sunday, October 6 the Guidance Team shared with Rhythm about the journey of discernment for the congregation closing. Whenever a church closes there is always a mixture of sadness and thankfulness. It is vital to embrace the sadness and grieve the loss well, but at the same time thank God for what he has done and look forward with vision and hope.
So every Sunday between now and November 17, we will gather as usual to worship, pray, spend time together, and share the Eucharist. But we’re also going to do a lot of storytelling – sharing stories will help us to process the change and celebrate what God has done. We will also be looking at Scriptures that speak to transitions and the transformation God wants to bring in our lives as a result.
We encourage anyone who considers Rhythm to be their home church to proactively engage and “lean in” during this unique season. If you would like more information about the Guidance Team’s discernment around this decision then you can download the Common Questions document.
